Really sorry to hear about your mother.
Thank you for your empathy about my mother.

The question is: CAN governors do this? Can a single man or woman suspend constitutional rights for millions of people, restricting their movements and activities to whatever extent he/she wants? Let the SCOTUS decide.

Yea, that, and muslim takeover, hyper inflation, FEMA concentration camps, re-education programs, communism, WW-3, gun confiscation, food riots, city people raiding farms for food, economic depression, 40% unemployment, DOW=1000 points, voting rights taken away. etc, etc.

We already heard all this in 2008 (you might be too young to remember), and none it happened, so you waste your time crying wolf again.

No one is saying there would be such thing. Well, Trump is saying it, but we know he lies about everything, so lets say that no credible person is saying it.

Many of us are just speculating about a lockdown. Although, Biden is so adamant about his "plan" it makes one wonder. His 7 point plan from his website doesn't seem like such a drastic plan that it will end Covid, just a bunch of talking points to make people feel good. How are any of these going to change where we are now ? Seems like more of the same. Live with it, social distance, sanitize, protect the vulnerable , and mask up.

Here is his 7 point plan.

1 Fix Trump’s testing-and-tracing fiasco

2 Fix personal protective equipment (PPE) problems for good.

3 Provide clear, consistent, evidence-based national guidance

4 Plan for the effective, equitable distribution of treatments and vaccines

5 Protect Older Americans and Others at High Risk.

6 Rebuild and expand the defenses that Trump has dismantled to predict, prevent, and mitigate pandemic threats, including those coming from China.

7 Implement mask mandates nationwide by working with governors and mayors and by asking the American people to do what they do best: step up in a time of crisis.

Why is every post from you complete and utter hyperbole?

Depends on state laws, I would assume, but yes, Governors can. The MI Supreme Court invalidated Whitmer's EO restrictions due to their duration, not their content.

Yes, Governor DeSantis did it in Florida, as did many other governors around the nation.

That is the exception though, and not the norm. Heck, it took 3 years to litigate Russia-Gate, and we had 1/2 the lawyers in DC all over that case.

According to the Michigan Supreme Court, no. Gov Whitmer's lock down was overidden by the courts there.

That can no be used as precendence by other states, but there has to be a political will to do so.

The MI Supreme Court said the EOs could not apply for that long. They DIDN'T say she didn't have the power to do it at all.
