I by no means agree with this or making excuses for the behavior. But why always just showing one side.
You cant talk about the other side of things without it being called racist also.
It would have been much worse for white kids to walk in a black neighborhood. Even they even made it out alive.
Even today 10 times safer for a black to walk in a white neighborhood than the other way around.
The difference is in those days was the police as well as white adults would be on the side of the white kids. You could see that the black kids had no recourse. A white person attacked in a black part of town, for certain in those days, would be reason enough to have that part of town wiped off the map.
For a time in my youth we had an African American police chief in a city that was only 10% black so we could call the police on bad actors.
Side note. I spent a big part of my childhood in Georgia. Mid 1990s into the early 2000s. I am the product of a Black middle class home. Some of the kids who were calling me the "N" word the most, the kids who gave me alot of grief, in terms of racial harassment, were kids who came from lower-middle class or working class homes. Or at the least, it seemed like it. I also caught alot of crap from kids who seemed very nonchalant about school. I noticed the same things out of those who were the biggest fans of the Confederate flag.
What you mentioned about economics, I partly wonder how some of that might have played a role in the kids who gave me alot of grief (there were also some middle class kids who gave me alot of crap. And it was frequently the slacker kids). Just trying to make sense of some of the stuff I remembered growing up.
I remember the same experiences growing up as a mex-American kid in south Texas in an Anglo neighborhood. They were fond of ganging up on me when I was alone, things like throwing rocks at me when I was sitting in my backyard portable pool or a nasty white teenager who didn’t like that “girlfriend” lifeguard liked me (a 10-year old boy). But, there were good kids too.
My dad grew grew up in a 'changing' neighborhood in North Philly in the '50s. He and his buddy were sitting in a movie theater one time when a black kid sucker-punched his buddy in the mouth. His buddy went crazy and started choking out his attacker and all the other blacks piled on them, hitting and clawing.
A black cop came, got them off and asked my father and his friend 'Why you pickin' on these black boys?'
It goes both ways, but the fact is, regardless of why, is that blacks have been much more violent towards whites in the past fifty years. Whites have been trying like hell to make things better ... but we need the blacks to get on board and stop being so racist and violent.
Black on white violence is likely blowback from the treatment receiived by white to Black cruelty.
Many people who were once racists have evolved and we are far less racist than we were back then. But you lefties like to keep racism alive, don't you?
Yeah. Modern racists don't call people n***** anymore, they just treat people like it. Can't argue with progress.
