Starting a business and working for someone else are the same thing.
Most of the businesses today start with little money from the original founders - think Steve Jobs etc.
Rely on voluntary charity is an option, especially half of the country just promised other people’s money as “charity.”
Seems like we need to chew this step more.
OK, let's go.
Starting a business and working for someone else is not a same thing by any means.
You don't have a boss telling you what to do when you start (or have) a business. You decide what to do - nobody else.
When you are working for someone, i.e. when you are employee (or contractor) - you don't decide what to do. You boss (or hiring part) tells you what to do.
There are also far more important differences, but I guess this one is already enough.
So far so good?
Now, this line is not applicable: "Most of the businesses today start with little money from the original founders - think Steve Jobs etc."
The reason? The person still needs the money (however small amount) to start business. So his only source is the two above choices - from work for someone else or from parents.
You just described anarchy, as without taxes, there's no government
Nope. Any consumption based taxes would do the trick.
On the other hand, if the citizens don’t want to fund the government voluntarily, there is no need for the government to exist - the people have spoken with their wallets.

Agree so far?
Fine. I won’t argue with you. Whether you are selling your labor or your own products, it’s the same thing. Instead of one boss, you have a thousand.
65% of western Europe is in support of socialism, and they seem to be doing much better than Americans when it comes to quality of life...
Doing well as a free person or as a slave?
You do know the African slaves lived a much better life than their peers in the jungle, right? Does that give people the right to enslave others via socialism?

The government doesn't force people to participate in unnecessary consumerism, in un-healthy eating lifestyles, improper money management, etc. The government is not your momma or papa nor a friend.
There is a responsibility in the individual in not becoming dependent as dependency can lead to slavery. Look at the people that are doing a FIRE lifestyle.
