The PUC rules say that Texas must provide 15% excess capacity. It doesn’t matter how many people are here using electricity or how it is generated.

ERCOT never has had 15% over excess capacity. And nobody in state government gave a durn.

I really think Abbott is out spreading criticism of the New Green Deal and all the other stuff to deflect.

He knows he failed as the one in charge of state infrastructures, etc.

I have to think this will backfire as his claims are fact checked.

I can't believe Hannity jumped on the bandwagon so easily. Does nobody do any kind of vetting of these guys.

But they didn't ever need to spend money on weather proofing until starting about 10 years ago after 40 years of open borders.

Traditional and new energy facilities in Texas were ill prepared. But let's talk about New Green Deal so nobody has to wonder why Governor Abbott wasn't better prepared.
But here's the whole thing...

Abbott's fault... Abbott's fault... Abbott's fault... Abbott's fault... Abbott's fault... Abbott's fault... Abbott's fault... Abbott's fault... Abbott's fault... Abbott's fault... Abbott's fault... Abbott's fault... Abbott's fault... Abbott's fault... Abbott's fault... Abbott's fault...

It's not about solving the problem... it's time for political hay to be made.

oops there it is.
thanks
However, I am not sure does the "30 gigawatts" include the planned maintenance shut down?

Other sources on social media are reporting that 80% of the failed power was from traditional sources.

That's the thing. The whole grid was a mess.

They jumped on the wind turbines to deflect.

And as social media is sharing more --- the impact of the power loss is devastating. It is horrific. And Abbot went on Hannity to make excuses, attack the New Green Deal. That does nothing for his constituents who are freezing and without power.

It was poor planning.
Texas doesn't experience snow and freezing cold weather as often like it did for the past few days.

I know ----- but it was still poor planning. when the traditional fuel providers 'froze'.

We've been having colder winters, hotter summers. We have to be prepared for these occurrences that put unusual demand on the grid.
