Lightfoot had an opportunity here to state the obvious that you are all doing.
Instead? She alludes to more police reform....when not blaming states as far away as Mississippi for Chicagos "gun problem".
Chicago doesn't have a gun problem. It has a gangs and poverty problem. That's why there are 70 murders in one neighborhood last year....and 0 in many of the others. Imagine standing up and giving a speech to minority leaders in the city and having to rely on party loyalty for them to keep their mouths shut and buy the lie that the problem is guns when the nicer, whiter areas are as safe as most anywhere in Europe from guns.

It's much more complex than just those two things.
13 years old. Out with a 21 year old who is most likely a known gang member, with a gun, at 2Am. And parents want to see the police video. You lost most of your ability to be outraged when you let your 13 year old outside at 2am with 21 year old in a city like Chicago. It was only a matter of time before someone in another gang or a cop killed him, or he killed someone else.
Police say officers were dispatched to a largely Latino neighborhood in the city’s West Side on March 29 after the department’s ShotSpotter technology detected eight gunshots. When police arrived, Adam and a 21-year-old man fled, according to Chicago Police Department Superintendent David Brown.
There was an "armed confrontation" during which the officer shot Adam once in the chest, police said. He died at the scene. The 21-year-old man was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest.
Lightfoot, however, suggested that Adam had the gun.
"We will find the person who put the gun in Adam’s hand," Lightfoot said. "An adult put a gun in a child’s hand, a young impressionable child who should not be provided with lethal force."
Apparently, this 13 year had a gun and was shooting it. He ran and was shot by police.
His family is saying he was a loving boy that would not hurt anyone.
If he was so loving, then why did he have a gun?
There might be some riots of this one....unsure if police foot pursuit tactics need to be reformed to let armed criminals run free ....
Perhaps if the left gave the police the resources to try to curb gang violence, instead of disbanding gang crime units, then the gun would not have ended up in the 13 year old boys hands.
As for Lightfoot's reaction that police foot pursuits should be reformed, it's ridiculous left wing nonsense and the worst kind of dog whistle politics, and as yet the full facts of what went on in the alley are not known.
Lightfoot should be taking about investing in initiatives such as Violence Reduction Units and involving the police rather than just blaming the police for all societies ills.
Whilst I appreciate there are wrongful deaths at the hands of the police, I also appreciate the police have a difficult job, especially when confronted by someone with a loaded firearm.

I don't understand how she can outright make the claim that the gun was purposefully planted in the boy's hand.
Was there an investigation already?
