...Good on you, if that's what you want, but it's a bit weird to try and escape "socialism" by moving to a country with government-funded schooling, universal healthcare etc.

Some can. What would the percentage be, though? 5%?
Permanent move to Poland, then? Good on you, if that's what you want, but it's a bit weird to try and escape "socialism" by moving to a country with government-funded schooling, universal healthcare etc.
lol , Well for one thing, its cheap as hell out there. My wife is Lithuanian and we would have family to the north. Im actually considering going out there and launching a business , and get some property then come back here for a bit of time. Then go back there for good once my kids are on their way out the door. Got 6 more years Would not mind retiring there and if I decide to stay for good I would consider to renounce if it got bad here .... ie dollar collapse, full blown tyranical socialism, etc
It would take a lot for me to renounce my citizenship. I think being an American is incredible but then again I'm a bitter clinger holding on to the old notions of Patriotism, Law and Order and doing what is right like taking personal responsibility for my actions.
My wife is from Ireland so there is always that option that we could go back but they are so socialist it would be difficult.
I'm sure my posting histiry could help you figure it out, but I'm not in the mood to sate idle curiosity today.

I'm guessing that when the going here gets tough, you will leave, correct?
I might. But as luck would have it, I landed in California and I rather like it here.
