What country do you have in mind ? You going the ancestry route or investment?
If you don't go ancestry then you have to look at each country. Most require min assets, steady income stream, etc. They do not want people who "may" become a social burden.
But government took ownership interest in private business. When GM became "Government Motors", that is socialist behavior. Does saying that was a good thing make one a socialist? Certainly more logical than those saying Biden is one.
I was just referring to the bank bailouts...those were outright money loans that got paid back.

With the rise of work from home with the pandemic, that's becoming an option for many more people than it was in the past. More freedom!

Yes, I figured that. Im going through my great grandfather that immigrated from Poland to Chicago in early 1900. However, he left before Poland was a state again. He technically was Polish but was from an area called Western Galcia (southwest Poland)(Austrio-Hungarian). However I have his WW1 docs that show he joined polish military in WW1 and almost was deployed. So apparently I'm elible for their Karta Polaka which basically is a permanent residence card, and all the same as Polish residents. However I have to speak level B2 polish. I am working this now but going to take me another year until I'm there ... so its a waiting game for now.

Go for it. It doesn't hurt any to have it in your back pocket even if you never use it.
My cousin renounced US citizenship. She's not rich. She did it because the US enacted some laws that were detrimental to her being able to do even simple banking in Portugal.
Understand US laws on citizens living in other countries before you go assuming this is all about "rich people"
1) The reason people are renouncing their citizenship is because the United States insists on taxing its citizens all over the world for any income they make anywhere in the world. The reason your cousin had issues with a bank in Portugal was almost certainly because the United States wants access to her bank statements for the purpose of taxes.
2) I said, "It really only affects wealthy people and people who are already outside of the country and don't plan on returning."
And I meant exactly what I said. It affects rich people AND people who live abroad and have no intention of returning. So no, I never assumed it was "all about rich people".
After this failed administration is finished destroying America, I believe taxes will be through the roof. The US will be slid off a ledge into full blown socialism and there's no turning back.
They are canceling student debt for deadbeats that signed the line but are financially irresponsible. Who do you think will pay for this ?
Apparently, all the locations around the world to Renounce citizenship are booked full.

that would be a No. Obviously you don't know what law got enacted that affected US citizens overseas.
