EDIT, to spend just a tiny bit longer on it: What is the most-realistic scenario and endgame for this? Scientists and doctors from all across the planet have come together to try to wipe out one specific group of people, and they've created this vaccine to do that? Either they've targeted specifically one minority group with the 'vaccine,' or they just don't care about collateral damage and figure the ends justify the means, so they plan on taking everyone out? Or maybe is the concern that the COVID vaccine is real, but some sinister shadowy group hidden deep in the US military wants to conduct testing on a new experimental drug they've created so they plan on swapping vaccines for their Drug-X and inject it unknowingly into troops to gauge the side effects?
Yeah, no. I don't have time to entertain any of that nonsense from anybody. They can get over it, or they can get booted out and look for new jobs.
I can assure you that many servicemembers would use that route to get medical discharge or general discharge and have that DD214 in their hands.

do you think the military is full of people who love to wake up every morning to go to work? yeah, maybe during their first year when they are still in their honeymoon phase. why do you think there is severe penalty for breaking military contract without good cause (ie medical)? That’s why the hardest job for military junior and senior leaders is to motivate their people to do their job
but if the military gives servicemembers the options to take the jab or leave, then many will use this opportunity to leave the military with their hands clean.

Someone who doesn’t want to follow orders and evidently doesn’t care at all about readiness, or care about their own health or the people in their unit’s health, isn’t of any benefit for their branch to keep around.
Someone getting booted out for not getting a COVID vaccine (when it becomes mandatory) is only improving the quality of their branch.
Like some commander is just sitting around waiting for someone to say no to the vaccine so they can cal them into their office and say “Well damn; finally someone stood up to me! Your defiance of authority is just the quality I’ve been wanting to see more of in my troops. Have a free promotion, here’s a new stripe! Keep up the good work!!!”
Naw, I stand by what I said: The military will be better off without any one of these people saying “Well I’ll quit if they try to force me to get the COVID shot.” It’s a volunteer force and there’ll always be someone waiting to take the place of anyone who doesn’t want to get a vaccination that the military declares essential to have. It’s not like our nation’s defense will suffer one bit over some antivaxxer getting kicked out.

Only time covid vaccine is mandatory is when it is FDA approved or OK by President.

Nobody signed up to get jabbed with experimental drugs or vaccines.
This is like saying female servicemembers signing up to get sexually harassed by their fellow servicemembers.
And the article in the OP is addressing concerns that it will be made mandatory once the FDA grants full approval, which some people are expecting will be soon, potentially by September 1st.

Why take the word quitting and turn it into desertion, because one or a handful said they'd quit why assume the numbers are larger than they may be?
Would hope they would not make those with antibodies to the vaccine take the drug.
Government used to make sure everyone was supplied with cigarettes and of course asbestos and agent orange was harmless.
