So why isn’t there already a high vaccine rate? It’s been out for a while now.

Our money isn't as good as richer and more influential countries's money - just the way the world works, but not really a problem due to isolation.

Ordered and paid early here, so goodness only knows what poor countries have to face ... the global response doesn't give me much hope for if there ever is a true super virus, with the me first approach not likely to benefit anyone.

Anyways, my point is that NZ is smart for having strict immigration policies. Yet, if the US enacted just as strict policies, they would be called xenophobic.

In short, New Zealand takes in some of the best of another countries population, while the US takes in some of the very worst of other countries.

I think if you include those with mixed Anglo Saxon heritage, I would think so.

Yeah, America seems like it own worst enemy, yet one of the best countries for treatment of immigrants, legal and illegal.

This is not New Zealand's first case of COVID. It may, however, be the first case of the Deta variant in a relatively-isolated area; an excellent teaching moment -- if that scenario holds.

So please. let's lesve the hard choices to the professionals who know the riisks and possibilities -- and not to the tea-time talk-show crowd.
Who suggested it is their first case? The truth is they have closed the whole country for 1 case though. And remember the country is two islands.
