Unfortunately, the family-owned fast-food chain is not immune to the nation's hiring challenges, the company's president told Insider. Despite a recent wage bump and competitive benefits, Dick's is still struggling to fill positions at its seven locations along Interstate 5 in Washington state.
"We are making some progress on hiring but we're definitely not fully staffed - not at that location or any of our locations yet," Dick's Drive-In President and CFO Jasmine Donovan said. "We're doing the best that we can."
As highlighted in the TikTok, Dick's Drive-In raised its hourly wages from $18 an hour to $19 an hour in late September, with its two busiest locations paying a $20 minimum wage. Non-managerial employees can make up to $21.75 per hour if they pass a skills test.
I was reading the new- order online is creating mayhem in the kitchen. Too many orders besides the walk ins and drive ups in fast food restaurants. Unattainable expectations from the employees.

But we have always had these types of businesses and they never had an issue hiring prior to the pandemic, this is new and there is much speculation to the reason this is occurring. I read an article where workers in Bradford PA just walked out, even the managers who were making $9.25/hr and these are people that are just getting by.
I think we can put to rest the claim that people weren't working because they would rather remain on unemployment. I recall people complaining that elevating wages was going to bankrupt these businesses, looks like it's lack of labor.

A lot of people would be just as satisfied if they got the $20/hr and a job that isn't too intellectually demanding. Many conservative are fond of the old days where a man could raise a family on an automotive job doing the same repetitious job day in and day out... Or mining coal.... Or doing any number of jobs that were more physically demanding than intellectually challenging, although those industries certainly do have some jobs that require more brain than brawn.
Capitalism is not the only system controlling world markets. Socialism is pretty prevalent too, even in our nation, which has a mixed economic system. Capitalism has not gone awry. It simply has more competition these days, and less influence.
