It's an endemic now. Cases gone down...we're pretty much going to be back to normal by summer if we aren't already. No more mask or temperature check required at my job since last week. I still wear a mask in confined or small areas/rooms while at work like the company kitchen. They've decided to not increase premiums anymore for those unvaccinated now.

CDC is reporting fewer cases likely because the Omicron variant is milder and people are not going to the doctor/clinic to be tested. Hence, of course, COVID numbers are down.

Totally agree. By summer most of those longing to satisfy their addiction to feeling afraid will give up.

You’re right, Omicron is mild. But cases don’t matter. The only things that matter are number of deaths and hospitalizations. Deaths have plummeted, hospitals are not overburdened. There is little concern over COVID.
Do you know why this has happened?
Because viruses attenuate. If you’re waiting around for a powerful variant of COVID-19 to show up, you’ll be waiting the rest of your life.
The Spanish flu is still floating around in the form of a seasonal cold.
COVID-19 is no longer the threat it originally was, and it never will be that kind of threat again.
There are people wearing masks and feeling scared because they are mentally damaged from what the pandemic did. They’ll get over it eventually.
Good luck.

I’ll spell it out for you. Some say they don’t want the government telling them what to do (which I agree with, btw), but they have no problem following other rules/laws/regulations. I’m an Independent with libertarian tendencies, so I’m not in favor of government intrusion.

You have ABSOLUTELY no way to know what kinds of COVID variants will emerge in the future. Same goes for ‘it will never be that kind of threat again’. An accurate statement is we hope it will never be that kind of threat again.

Enjoy it while it while it lasts. COVID will re-surface very hard, the months before mid-terms. The Democrats will be pushing hard for mail-ins.
