Lol, that poster is hiarious isn't she comparing a man's medical needs to a woman who is pregnant with his child or any other man's child. A man's medical needs don't include killing an unborn baby.
Since when is abortion "a medical need" anyway unless the woman's life is in danger? I do make exceptions for rape also but many woman decide to give birth anyway because the baby is half theirs. It's up to them in that case, IMO. An abortion should be done withiin a very short time though.
The point being, both men and women have medical needs throughout life. Both deserve privacy.
In a civilized society, someone killing another is everyone's business. Or should we just simply allow it for everyone for whatever reason, especially just for the sake of one's own convenience as is true in 98.3% of abortions?
Aborting a zygote, blastocyst, embryo or early stage fetus is not "killing another".
Privacy above the law? Privacy is one thing, law is another. Nobody is saying you cannot have privacy, HIPAA being an example. A doctor shouldn't be able to prescribe meth, shouldn't be able to take action counter to approved medical standards, etc. The privacy talking point is baseless.
Do you have any limits? For instance, a fetus can survive out of the womb at 21 weeks, would you support abortion past that point?
For severe developmental/genetic issues that make the baby unlikely to survive if delivered, or to live a short time at great expense(especially since this country is horrible about helping with that sort of thing), or for the life/health of the mother - untreatable pre-eclampsia, torn placenta, placental abruption, or any other of a number of life threatening issues.
So we at least agree on that. I don't make an exception under 24 weeks, you do. But some common ground is better than none.
Another question, what about a rape or incest victim? Should she be forced to carry to term?
One would think someone who was raped or a victim of incest would make up her mind before she reaches 24 weeks.
For me -
1. First trimester: Ok in almost all, if not all, cases
2. Second trimester: Ok in most cases
3. Third trimester: NOT Ok in almost all cases, with an exception for medical necessity, with the caveat that reasonable effort must be made to also save the baby.

Another aspect I haven't seen discussed here is that it has become harder or women to access abortion providers because of the number of clinics that have closed due to unreasonable regulations or other reasons. This has already been exacerbated with Texas residents taking up spots in other states. So women are having to wait until they can actually get an appointment.

If a woman has been the victim of incest or rape wouldn't she immediately see a doctor? Makes sense to me. Why in the world would she wait 6 weeks when she knows she might have been impregnated?
