War lesson: do not flip off enemy drones. I have seen many videos in which Russian invaders see the drones and run. Why don't they shoot at the drones?

No way can that logically be interpreted as anything other than a massive defeat for the Russians.

Yes, those troops were deployed to the Eastern Front, because they had totally failed to achieve any of their military objectives in the Northern Ukraine. They lost that battle big time, and even the Russians themselves know that.

That said, these are battles and who wins the battles has nothing to do with who wins the war.
We might add that the Ukrainians won the battle for Western Ukraine also, since the Russian forces never made it that far. All the Russians were able to do is send a bunch of missiles, but show up in person?.... Nah.
As you say, the winner of this war has little to do with forces squabbling over a town most of us have never heard of. It will be decided economically, and in that respect Russia is far, far behind.

In the first place, Russia's standing as a world power is shattered, their army having been revealed as an empty shell.
In the second place, sanctions which prevent Russia from participating fully in the world economy have been levied and those have not even begun to have an effect. But they will. Sanctions such as exclusion from SWIFT are not even talked about - but that's because people don't understand what it is. You and I, or our businesses can walk into any bank and transfer money to any other bank anywhere is the world, thus locking in a deal of some sort. But in Russia that is now impossible. They have to use the equivalent of a Money Order to send money around.
When Russia was threatened with exclusion from SWIFT in 2014, they howled. They said it was "tantamount to a declaration of war". Now that it has happened, they say it never really mattered.

Russian GDP predicted to drop 30% by the end of the year…

https://www.businessinsider.com/russ...nctions-2022-5

The "economy is imploding. We forecast a GDP collapse of -30% by end-2022," Robin Brooks, the chief economist at the Institute of International Finance trade group, tweeted on Sunday.

Brooks added that data compiled with help from Jonathan Pingle, an IIF researcher, indicated that exports from 20 countries to Russia were down 50% in April compared to the same time a year prior.

Zelensky this morning...."send more money and more guns". And he continues to demand a "no fly zone" over Ukraine.

Evidently, oil and gas are about all Russia is going to be left with. And I wonder, since Haliburton and BP have left the country, how long they can ship oil and gas.
Air traffic will stop at some point, as planes gradually become unsafe to fly due to lack of maintenance.
There are virtually no automobile and truck parts being shipped in to Russia. You have to wonder how long they can keep their millions of autos running. It takes parts from all over the world to manufacture a car.

Whatever they gain in Ukraine will not be worth the cost.

100% true. Which is why that is being remedied.

There never was Russian battle for western Ukraine
Russia does not want western Ukraine. Why bother with people that hate you?
Poland has ongoing soft annexation of the western Ukraine. With the last move requesting all the funds for Ukraine to be over-sought by Poland in Warsaw.

Real estate market in Russia collapsing…

(Some browsers can translate the whole page, it is interesting to see mass media from the other side)

https://www.mk.ru/economics/2022/05/...rodaetsya.html

At the end of February and March, there were many calls from people leaving Russia: "I conducted five transactions related to leaving forever: two apartments in the center, three country houses. One of the clients sold both an apartment and a house - he is the only one who urgently rented and left Russia, the other three have not lived in the country for a long time. And they sold real estate because they didn't understand how to manage it and where to transfer money."

Everyone who wanted to leave urgently has already made deals, says the interlocutor. The remaining sellers hardly understand what is happening to the cost of housing. "Initially, they put houses and apartments on sale at 2021 prices or even a little more expensive," says Inna. - I immediately tell customers: do you want to sell or sell? If the second one, then make a 20% discount. Otherwise, you will not sell, because the buyer is waiting for the market to collapse. And it takes only those positions that are exhibited at a delicious price."

Today at 7:50 AM there was an explosion in the 9 story building in Melitopol, in the center of the city.

Judging by the news in Ukrainian media, the "partisans" were targeting the new head of the Zaporojhie region. His family obviously too, and it was not a big deal if few more neighbors would have been killed in a process, just for being neighbors of the "Russian collaborator."

That's the mentality of the nationalists, that's the very essence of their terrorist state.

And it didn't happen on February 24th, that's not the time when this terrorist state was born.
And the Russians are innocent of any war crimes?? There is going to be alot of partisan activity moving forward. The counter-insurgency has been planned for 8 years. The targets will be Russian and Russian supporters and their will be collateral damage however unfortunate. NONE of this would be happening if Putin had not invaded a Internationally recognized sovereign country based on trumped up justifications. All the blood is on Putin's hands and ANYBODY that supports this "Special Military Operation".
