Yep, that is what I get by reading between the lines of those posts.
For what it is worth, I am a Democrat married to a Republican for almost 50 years. HE could not change my views. Our children (ages 43 and 38)) are all Democrats married to Democrats. Eligible to vote at 18. Dad apparently did not influence them with his political views. Maybe as they say "it is the hand the rocks the cradle" so to speak.
Of course these 18 year olds would vote Democrat but it's the reasons why that is the issue. Most young adults don't study the issues and their emotions still come into play rather than their brains.

Well, maybe parents do influence their children. My parents were both Democrats, but I registered as an Independent and was for 30 years. Only voted for 2 Republicans in all those decades. BUT, it was my Adult Daughters in their 20's, registered Democrats, who said, "Mom, why are you an Independent?" "You don't agree with any of the Republican views". The "kids" were right.
They heard both very heated political sides between me and my Republican husband when they were growing up. Now he doesn't discuss politics. He is OUTNUMBERED.
BTW, in order to graduate from HS then, Daughters were required to take Government and Politics, and Participation in Government. Didn't study the issues? Maybe those courses should be required in ALL states.

Studying the issues of the day IMO should be a part of any Political Science class. It would be nice to have a debate in school on them denoting why one side feels one way and the other side feels another way and their reasons for it. Our laws however shouldn't be based on feelings but what is in the best interests of our country and our citizens as a whole. I would like 18 years old to think about that and keep their emotions out of it when voting.

Do feel that anyone who votes democrat hasn't "Studied the issues" if they studied enough they would not vote democrat.

This is how I see it. Many people study the issues as it applies to them, and them only. Many people vote based on what is best for themselves. And I'll admit it. I do this. We live in an individualistic society where many people just don't trust each other.

What unfounded nonsense. Most Americans are not selfish like that. They care about their fellow citizens and this country as a whole. I'm sorry that you don't and that's all about you! Me, me, me. Yuck!
Agreed. It's all too easy for the peasants to literally toss our freedoms and rights away for a little bowl of soup when they themselves have no skin in the game. And by the time they realise what a grave mistake they made it's too late, and the peasants are often the first ones pushed into the fire.
This is how I see what you call peasants. Peasants have some skin in the game themselves. They are trying to survive. One way to get a peasant to understand freedom is to put the peasant in a position where he/she can easily do for himself/herself.
I also notice this. There are people in the middle class who will throw away rights and freedoms for their own perceived security.
