That's exactly right. It was all over the news outlets just about everywhere.
IF the story is later revealed to be false, you won't see Biden or Harris come back on television to "clear up the misunderstanding." You can certainly bet on that. Some of the news outlets might run a correction but it won't be prioritized on their news pages or channels.
The "ghastliness" of the original story was too juicy for them to pass up. And they're not about to retract it if they don't have to. They like the idea of motivating any additional liberal voters also.
