huh? I thought Republicans were big on the whole free market thing, you know - hands off corporations let them do what they want. So now they want the Government to tell corporations how to run their businesses?

One job I saw open for months this spring locally. I hear a lot of whining from business owners that they can't find people. And when asked what they pay, somewhere from the federal min. wage to maybe 14 or 15 an hour. Not even enough to live off of in this state. They in essence want the taxpayers to subsidize their profits by having their workers utilize social programs like food stamps or rent assistance to get by on their low wages. These bottomfeeders can either pay more or go out of business. Their choice. The government should not be allowing illegals in to keep their games going. Since 2020 many I know have either gone to better paying jobs or have gone self-employed. They're not living off the government, they've simply left behind bad employers.
I agree and here it from people all the time. But as far as illegals entering the US, the government will allow it as long as there are business owners who donate to politicians need them to work on their ranch or farm or in vineyards or packing houses. I remember several years ago when Georgia cracked down on employers and required them to verify that workers were in the US legally until they lost a lot of their crops one season because no one except illegals would take those jobs. They very quietly removed that requirement for farm jobs.

No problem. If they don't want to work, then they shouldn't ask for or get any welfare, food stamps, or the like.

However, that IS the problem with most of these people. They refuse to work, but still expect the government, i.e. the taxpayers, to support them.

People don't get rich on government benefits. Unless you have kids you don't get any 'welfare' the most you are eligible for is food stamps and medical care (in some states) What's happened is that rent has gone up faster than wages which have been stagnant for years. I live near several apartment complexes and most of them have cars parked on the street with former tenants living in them. They park there so that they can use the bathroom and sometimes the kitchen in the apartments of their former neighbors. I think if people work fulltime there should be some accommodation for a place for them to sleep at night that they can afford on their wages.

I would try to explain to you why Democrats caused the rent increases but I am too tired to bother. It's clear you are entrenched in your Bernie Sanders socialism mentality. It's sad that even when the economy is going to shi$ because of those policies, you still won't see it.

No small factor!
It works in Germany. Lots of the housing in modern Germany was created after the war because most was destroyed by allied bombing. The people needed housing quickly and there wasn't enough that survived in urban areas so the government build multi-family homes. Today their rent is cheaper and better maintained than private real estate. I guess Germans actually appreciate government housing because Americans turn it into slums.

You have to have an address to fill out a job application.

You can fill out all the applications at every employer, but it's up to the employer who gets the job offer.

LOL. Some people will make any kind of excuse to try to justify not working. This board is full of such people.
