Why can’t she adopt, then, if it’s the actual biological issue of being pregnant? Lots of women become mothers through adoption.
Lol. All these ppl criticizing her saying that she can adopt or surrogacy.
Surrogacy is usually a last resort if you have health issues in carrying a baby. It's not considered a convenience for rich folks who don't want the "burden" of being pregnant.
Adoption is a great thing, but most people would much rather have their own baby. Adoption is generally considered by people who can't physically have children.
So her last game(s) will be here in Canada (Toronto). Such an honour.
Hope she has a great experience and bows out in style and can enjoy her life with her loved ones.
I'm sure her age has a lot to do with it. Forty-one is on the older side although a few have lasted until 46-47. She has also had health issues. So yes, wanting to have another child seals the deal. I'm sure she is not the only athlete that has had regrets of having to let go.
She, and many others who hang on to past glory should follow Beverly Sills' example:
""There is a kind of desperation, I think, at staying at something too long," she said. "And I was never a desperate woman. I wanted people to say 'It's too early,' rather than 'When is that woman ever gonna quit?' ""
People in here acting like Serena struggled to win. She dominated the sport for almost 20 years. She is just pointing out it may have been 25 years if she didn’t start a family.
Why can’t she adopt, then, if it’s the actual biological issue of being pregnant? Lots of women become mothers through adoption.
She could adopt. She is choosing to have another child. That does not negate the fact that it is only women who must make this choice. If not for the biological reality of being female she would not have the issues that carrying a pregnancy and giving birth create for competitive athletes. That is all she is saying in her interview about retiring.
Have you ever known a male athletes say: well I'm 41, my biological clock is ticking. I would love to stay on the circuit for another year maybe two but if I'm going to have another child I need to do it now and I know the pregnancy will interfere with my ability to perform. Do male athletes adopt so they can become fathers while playing?

So you dont think people should have individual feelings and thoughts or you dont believe they should be free to express them?
Since I quoted an individual who was expressing her feelings, why would you say I believe to the contrary?
