I'm in the same situation. I have a 2015 Kia Optima with 59,000 on it. Still looks and drives great so I'll keep it as long as I can.

I did respond "no" on the poll because I currently have no desire for an EV. I'm also too poor to afford one. I bought my Kia used for $14,000 and struggled with that piddly payment (on top of my other bills). However, I guess I should never say never. I might change my mind as the technology improves (along with my finances).

Not just no, but hell no.

My next "vehicle" might just be a street legal ATV--far simpler engineering, a minimum of electronic/tech bull crap, easier to work on, goes more places. With any luck, by the time I need to buy a new car, I will be in my bug-out location in a backwoods Utah mountain community of less than 1300 people, permanently. (thus the ATV... don't have to worry about interstates, highways, and city driving, just country paved roads, gravel roads, and 4WD trails)

I guess if I door dashed all my meals to me and lived in my parents basement and only went out to buy drugs, alcohol and sex, all locally, I could see getting one of these.

I used to think an EV was cool. Park it at home and plug it in to charge. I detest filling stations. If I has spare money lying around I might consider it but simply put, I can't afford an EV and besides, I'm an environmentalist and I don't want to increase my carbon footprint. Yes, you read that right. In my parts, EV's run on coal power and not a new modern 45% efficiency generation plant. Not only that but to get to the coal one has to destroy large areas of conservation forests. And conservationists won't allow us to build new hydro-plants. Or nuclear. So we import coal from other countries that do deforest the land to get to coal.

Or a grown-*** adult who lives in a well-situated suburb and works from a home office with a paid-off house and a solar array...just for comparison's sake.

Oops! Forgot to turn on my snark filter.

Sounds like the good life to me. I would take that set up. All of that and I get a Tesla?

Next new vehicle will most likely be an EV. But also likely going to be years before we do that. Not putting many miles on since working from home full time. And got a fun convertible as my intended last gas car last year.

Sadly all too many share the same ideal.

Yeah, a price for one of these glorified golf carts does attract individuals who actually believe these are a status symbol of self greatness.

Can we first get those prices to come down?

I mean, I can get a Lexus SUV for the price of one of those EVs.
