Somebody on here not long ago discussed a novel about the US going after Canada's water. Some people can't tell the difference between fact and fiction. (Remember the DaVinci Code? Exhibit A.)
The US and it's capitalist system bailed Europe out of 2 wars in a quarter century and kept they them safe from the likes of the Putins of their time for another half century. Socialist driven policies like the centralization of services, supplies and organizations like the EU has led to energy blackmail by the Russians.. They created and festered dependence rather than independence and self sufficiency.

That's an exaggeration. The marginal tax rate is progressive the Scandinavian countries.

The property tax is very low in Norway. If you own a $1M home in Oslo (very common) you are going to pay a maximum of $900.
China got better off of all of us. But look at the restrictions on all Chinese. Privacy, does not exist. Freedom of speech? Even property rights or rights to a business. You can be a big CEO and say the wrong thing about the party and you will find yourself in a jail cell. They do have more prosperity but Xi is trying to wind back the clock and probably will re nationalize everything. Lots of fear in China over what that means. And look at their covid response. Makes even places like New Zealand look good on dealing with covid. I think China's covid policies are just to remind people there that the government has absolute power. There is no way at this point that the government believes all these lockdowns they are still doing are really necessary.
Destroyed to me is Cuba or Venezuela. Capitalism being totally replaced by socialism. That is what Mark Levin was predicting what will happen.
Are people better off than 50 years ago? It depends on what you measure and who you are. If you are black you would probably say yes. If you are gay yes. If you are a woman yes. White guys like myself. That is a big draw of MAGA. Bringing it back like it used to be.

If anything, China has been built from whole cloth during this time frame. They have become a financial and military super power with a much larger middle class than before they got "most favored trade stuts"
Absolutely, China benefitted during the same timeframe that the US and the EU have suffered declines. There is no debating it.
