BTW.. sometimes you CAN end up in a private room if that is all they had You can't REQUEST a private room , be guaranteed a private room and GET IT under your insurance alone. My friend had her baby in a sister hospital and got lucky and ended up in a private room.. but not because she requested it.
Well - I don't know about having a baby but, in my case (and with my wifes accident), private rooms were all they had (St. Joes and Banner Baywood).
I refer you to the tons of articles pointed to and the stats on people who die because they have no health insurance and therefore do NOT get the healthcare they need.. here we go in circles yet again!! Want to rehash it.. go back a few pages OLD MAN
Sorry - but you are spreading blatant outright lies - total distorting the TRUTH.
No one is denied medical care because of lack of financial resources - NO ONE

OLD MAN.. you need to go back and read the many posts we had onthis topic already.. I'm not going to sit here and post it all yet again.. since you clearly ignore the facts and live with your head up your own ass about the entire thing..
You sited a few handful of people in your little local area.. um..there is an entire nation that exists beyond your little dessert GD.. and the reality it many go without treatment due to the fact that they can't afford the treatment and are uninsured A few may sell everything they own and go into bankruptcy to pay for that medical treatment (atleast 50% of bankruptcies in this country are caused by medical bills). A few may even be lucky enough to be picked up as a "charity".. BUT THE OUTRIGHT TRUTH OF IT IS THERE ARE PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY DYING BECAUSE THEY CAN NOT AFFORD TREATMENT AND DO NOT HAVE HEALT INSURANCE BECAUSE THEY CAN'T AFFORD IT.
I"VE proven that it is true, old man.. with links and statistics.. YOU have proven jack **** and have nothing to back up your statement about a person here or a person there OLD MAN
NO ONE HAS TO DIE FOR LACK OF MEDICAL CARE BECAUSE THEY DO NOT HAVE THE FINANCIAL RESOURCES TO PAY FOR IT.
THAT'S A FACT.
Now - are there people that sit back and assume they can do nothing? Yes. Are there people who do not seek out the resources? Yes. Are there people who do not know about the resources available to them? YES!
And therein lies the problem - a lack of education, to the public, as to what is available to them.
Oh, to be sure, they may not get the "warm fuzzy" bedside manner little girls like TM want - but, there medical care is there.
And BTW - if one has to go into bankruptcy - so be it. The government is not here to assure your financial well being. That is NOT THE GOVERNMENTS ROLE. I feel for them (and have represented a lot of them) but, BK is NOT what a lot of people think it is - you don't lose everything - you don't loose your retirement funds - and depending upon the state - equity you have in your home is protected, in some states, up to $600,000 of equity.
You don't lose your job because of BK - and heck - the courts allow reaffirmation of certain debts like your mortgage - you can keep your house, car, furniture etc -
But again - IT IS NOT THE GOVERNMENTS JOB to protect your wealth.
leave it to you to think that incest is a fun topic
No, discussing the legalization of it is fun - a number of countries do not prosecute people for incest (bet you did not know that) - and some are suggesting that the US should follow suit.
TM wants to trust our government to have our best interests at heart and yet.....it is because the government runs Medicare that we have an almost sinful Prescription plan under Medicare.
It's because of the government that we can't buy cheaper drugs since it disallows bargaining for bulk.
It's because of the government that we have to buy outside the states in an 'allowed' but illegal manner.
If you aren't buying Canadian like millions of other Americans TM, you're doing yourself a big disservice.
Add the things on your list Greatday......all government policies....not stuff the insurance companies could get away with without the governments assistance.
While she is able to receive some care at a local health care clinic, she is not receiving the level of treatment required for the medical management of this disease.
Catherine is not the only member of her family who has been affected by the devastating effects of being uninsured. Her brother, Gale Jones, 59, died after suffering from Crohn's disease and colon cancer. He was uninsured and was unable to receive the treatments he needed to survive.

but after losing his health care coverage, he has been forced to make countless decisions against getting the tests, surgeries and basic medical care he knows he needs because he cannot afford them.
Chris understands the importance of routine tests and check-ups and careful attention to medial problems - he experienced the benefit of these in the late 90's when they saved his life from leukemia. Fortunately, when Chris was diagnosed with leukemia in 1998, he had health care coverage, and was able to go through chemotherapy and radiation without incurring serious debt. In 2003, however, he lost health care coverage, and the yearly bone marrow scan to help detect traces of any reappearance of the disease has become too expensive for Chris to undergo.
Alot of those things aren't covered here in the US for a basic plan either. You have to add on pharmacy coverage and purchase additional eye coverage. Dental coverage needs to be purchased in addition too and is almost a seperate insurance (doesn't really fall under medical).
I've never had vision insurance... but it's relatively cheap for an eye exam and a 6 months supply of contact lenses. Dental, though, is a whole other story..it's very expensive. I have dental needs I can't meet either because it's so costly..however its NOT life threatening.
Most policies in the US these days cover prescription drugs, chiropractic and physical therapy (mentioned in the Canadaian woman's post as needing supplemental for in Canada), in addition to dr. visits, immunizations, labs, X-rays, etc.
Vision and dental are separate, but most companies of mid-size and larger provide them.
