These are people who have paid into it already.
Have you ever taken an IQ test?
You might not be so quick to throw around the "stupidty" label once you do.
Whether the Seniors "already paid into" Medicare or not, it is still a government run healthcare program.
Tsk, tsk....are we not reading links? People who receive Medicare and Veteran's benefits are already
getting health care from the Federal Government. Apparently being elderly and confused isn't the only criteria for people who just don't get it.
Even, do you fail to realize that many of we of the much older generations feel that our lives are being theatened with being shortened down from rationing of care? I guess you have never read about the words of Zeke Emanuel concerning the rationing of care. Maybe you need to google old Zeke sometime. I am sure hoping I live beyond 2013 when the proposed bill goes into effect but don't think it will be much fun after that time.
How many of the people here know that Obama has said that Medicare will remain but no new ones will be added after his law goes into effect. They do however plan to weed out the old folks with their rationing of care.
What about the $500 billion they plan to take out of Medicare for next year or to pay for this Health insurance bill? Why Obama wouldn't do a thing like that would he?

Not already paid into Medicare. We still are paying with money withheld from our monthly SS check. I even get to pay income taxes on 85% of my SS amount because my younger wife works and we file jointly. I guess we need a good old divorce before she does retire, but we would still be paying monthly on Medicare.
You didn't know that we get to continue paying Medicare, did you?
Perhaps you could have someone explain the healthcare bill to you since you obviously have trouble understanding what you have read.
Maybe you need to watch this video of a British MP talking about their nationalized healthcare that they have had since 1946. Some real interesting numbers in this little video but then Daniel Hannan is nobody outside the UK, other than for the fact that he knows the numbers.
For many years now doctors have been dealing with decreases in reimbursement from Medicare while their costs to operate their offices continues to climb. What you will find is that many doctors will simply close their private offices. You will have long waits to see doctors due to lack of doctors. This is not an improvement and the cost of this program is not sustainable.
I think the author could use as a Dale Carnegie course. If you are trying to persuade people the last thing you should do is call them stupid, crazy and dupes. People can be well informed and disagree with you, it really is possible as crazy as it sounds.
Lets take this authors example of the Post Offce as the model of efficiency. The Post Office is facing a $7 billion loss and is closing offices. I know this is efficient by government standards but is hardly what I would hold up as the example of the kind of efficiency we can expect from government healthcare.

$500B? Documentation please! The only reduction that has been publicized is the decrease in funding to Medicare HMOs, which have been overfed at the trough for many years now. The CBO predicts that it would be a $150B reduction over 10 years. This reduction is way overdue since those companies have been cherrypicking and vastly overpaid to feed their CEO compensations.

I think the reason that Medicare is financially challenged is this:
Medicare provided such adequate medical to seniors, the seniors are living much longer and therefore using more Medicare $$$. This government run healthcare program actually has increased the average life expectancy!
