why should she be involved at all then? she's obviously hindering her case more than helping it. the judge is right, she just wants to be in the spotlight despite not knowing what she's doing and it's hurting what she claims to be fighting for.
this article is hilarious. i wonder if the judge was able to keep a straight face. i liked that he thanked her for finally filing her papers properly.
- today’s hearing focused not on documents that allegedly prove he was Kenyan-born but on the conflicts of plaintiff’s attorney Orly Taitz.
- court dismissed Taitz' motion to drop 2 plaintiffs
- Taitz must work with the attorney representing the two clients she wanted removed from the case.
- “Why can’t the two of you work out the disagreements you have?” Carter said. “Do each of you want the spotlight? … You are about to cause a tremendous delay because of your bickering."
- judge will hear the defendant's motion for dismissal on Oct 5th
- judge set tentative dates for other pre-trial matters and said that if the case isn’t resolved before then, a trial will begin on Jan. 26.
- When Carter finally got to her suit at 11 a.m., he started by thanking her for finally get her complaint properly filed, saying the process “seems never ending.”
- in an attempt to discuss the birth certificate - Taitz tried unsuccessfully to get a surprise witness on the stand (the forger) saying that his life was in danger - the judge didn't buy it
This is "legal maneuvering" and is typical. It is almost always the case that the defense will ask for dismissal. That doesn't mean it will happen.
1. I highly doubt the others would have shown their birth certificate. Why should any Presidential candidate or President for that manner respond to every asinine conspiracy theory that is out there?
in any case, obama did show his birth certificate.
he showed all that is required to prove that he was born in the united states. no lawyer would advise their client to release more than is necessary to prove what they need to prove. or i should say *want* to prove, because obama didn't owe the birthers anything.
and wdavid002, they don't dispute the authenticity of the birth certificate because the plaintiff's case doesn't make any claims about the authenticity of the birth certificate. read the affidavit - it just claims that smith went to kenya and got this certificate. it never says it's authentic. that's a hell of a lot more telling that the defense's move to dismiss! obviously smith is trying to avoid going to jail for perjury.
anyway, do we really need a new thread every time there's a development in this case? didn't like the title of the other thread about the results of the hearing (which you posted in), kootr?
I don't know whether to perceive you as the genuine idiot rather than him? After 200 days its impossible for anyone to tell the effect of his presidency. So how on earth can you claim he is doing a lousy job? Its way to early to tell. So far him and his advisors have planned resolutions that are basically theories - like a businessman does when he starts and plans his business, hoping they will bring success.
Its absurd to claim to 'know' simply from these theories that he has done a 'bad' job!
Judge Carter commented that if there are legitimate constitutional questions regarding Obama's eligibility, they need to be addressed and resolved.
Judge Carter ordered a hearing October 5 on the motion to dismiss and ordered arguments submitted on the issue of discovery. If the case survives that challenge, a pretrial hearing has been scheduled for January 11 and the trial for two weeks later on January 26, 2010.
Man this would be great! Get that illegal out of the white house!
Then we could try him for treason.
