No I am not a Doctor but I have a body thats failing. The problem is called End Stage Renal Failure. Kidney Failure for a short description. When the kidneys are broken you lose the ability to regulate electrolytes like sodium or potassium. In fact they just build up until a fatal level is achieved. Then you are in heart failure. For me eating a whole a bunch of bananas has enough potassium to justify calling the EMTs for a quick run to a hospital ER where they can pull you back into the world of the living. Now some of the problem can be overcome by Dialysis.
However you really have to undergo this procedure to understand.
