I think that instead of banning or limiting salt in food, they should change govt subsidies that currently empower crap-food markets and cripple health-food markets.
I'm all for placing limits on unhealthy things in prepared and prepackaged foods. Since I cook most of my own meals it's not going to bother me. It wouldn't bother anyone else either if they were to say, for example, no MORE unhealthy things in prepared or prepackaged foods. It's only because companies have already gone hog wild and put it there that folks think something is now going to be taken away from them, or "controlled by the government".
For some reason people like believing that whatever IS must always BE else big brother is overstepping their bounds. It's crazy, but then so are people
I'm very glad they are doing this. Anything to lower health costs in this country.
How about we do something to the 30 percent of the population that are obese. Maybe the FDA can limit those peoples food intake. That will lower the cost.

They can and should do whatever they have the juristiction to do. What you suggest is beyond that and therefore not an option.
Gosh I guess we have forgotten the Republican push to subsidize corn and practically force companies to start using HFCS!
Yeah, so limiting salt is Big Brother. LOL. They limit other chemicals in our food and have for decades. Salt is a chemical and any chemical in excess is POISON.
Amen!!! Down with high fructose corn syrup!! (that's just a saying I don't want to ban it)
Personally, as someone who suffers from high blood pressure, and who has heart disease running rampant in their family's medical history, I wouldn't be opposed to this. Like others have already stated, add the amount of salt you want when you either cook the food or sit down to eat it.
What I would also like to see is restaurants being required to list not only the caloric count, but also the sodium levels of the foods they serve. It is very difficult for anyone to choose to eat healthy when most choices at restaurants are loaded with salt, fat, sugar, MSG, and other chemicals. And choosing healthier options (like eating organic products) is usually more expensive.
Thankfully, some companies have already taken the initiative to reduce the amount of sodium in their products. But the choices are still very limited.
If salt is bad for someone they should take personal responsibility and look out for themselves instead of being babysat. Take the extra 5 minutes to do some research if it means something. I purchase products that advertises low sodium. Zatarans is one product. Natures Own Bread does not contain HFCS and says so on the package.
Two things learned about products in less than a couple minutes. Maybe if people wouldn't smoke so much pot they'd get off their butts and fend for themselves.
btw Using a vaporizer to smoke pot is much better for you than a joint or a water pipe.

That's three things learned
I'll bet marijuana pollen or marijuana bee pollen is VERY good for you.
I wish I had some marijuana honey.
I'm getting tired of clover honey all the time.
