Haha, I did notice the Best Buy in the video. Same thing as El Mandado having speaker shops and tax preparers and travel agents all close to aisle 5. Wal-Mart practices the same idea. Know your customer base and put everything they need under one roof.
I had an H Mart around the corner from me when I lived in MD. When it first opened, the prices were incredible and the place was extremely clean. After 3 years, the fruit and veg were literally rotting on the shelves (you should have seen the fruit flies), the store was extremely dirty and the prices were no better than any other grocery store. It is, however, a great place for ethnic foods that are pretty hard to find in NC.
To the poster who wondered how it compared to Wegmans - it's completely different. Wegmans is higher quality all around, H Mart is a little cheaper and has a great variety of ethnic foods that you'd never find in Wegmans.

Unfortunately that's been my experience with all the international grocery stores. There is always a funky smell too. I think as Americans we are used to an almost over sanitized food environment. I'll probably stop by but I won't be sending my mother to check it out,ya know?

Grand Asia is pretty dang clean. It doesn't look or smell like your average HT or Food Lion, but the produce is good, the meats are fresh, and the variety is wonderful. I love Grand Asia, and if a place can come in and compete with what they are currently offering, I fully welcome that. (and they are closer to me)
