Super H Mart is Korean owned, but is an Asian supermarket not a "Korean" market. They have aisles for many different countries in Asia, including SE Asia and India.
In addition, H-Mart's prices on produce and staples like rice are so good that they attract other ethnic groups. I used to shop at the H-Mart in Catonsville, MD, and I saw American-born shoppers of European and African descent, Hispanics, Indians and many other Asian nationalities. They also had good prices on birthday cakes, housewares and appliances.

Their Korean influence does show in the massive selection of Kimchi, and our old store had a Korean rice cake vendor (they are the size of frisbees).
Super H isn't like the little mom and pop stores we have here. It's a big chain, and the stores are usually WalMart sized - with grocery, restaurant, beauty, and vendor areas.
Rice pops! I love those! (Especially the green tea flavored rice pops)
But what we REALLY need is a top rate Hispanic grocer. Those of you who have been to the SW and know Pro's Ranch Market know exactly what I mean. (ETA: just googled them for a link for y'all and found out they have changed their name to Los Altos Ranch Market).
I wonder if Publix would consider opening Publix Sabor stores in the Raleigh-Cary and Durham-Chapel Hill areas.
I asked H Mart on their Facebook page when they planned on opening. No scheduled date yet, but they expect to open in 2016. Can't wait!
You have made my day!
Yes, H-Mart attracts a diverse crowd. Fresh produce and fish at great prices usually has that effect. Also, I have never seen the clientele man handle the fish as I have seen at Grand Asia - it is kept behind glass. I was surprised when I saw that at Grand Asia.
I'm more excited about H-mart than wegman's! Blasphemy.
