As of right now they are holding down the last Wild-Card spot but just barely. If they can stop being their own worst enemy, they might have a shot here.

Winnipeg will be a real test.
The Jets score, and don't give up a lot.
Hellebuyck is having a very good year.
And the Jets do OK on the road.
A win tonight would be just grand.
And, it looks like Ward is the reality in goal. He's likely to have a busy March.
I wonder if Darling gets the net in Minnesota or Chicago, even.
Unfortunately for Cam, he's going to have to be thrown into the fire until either they clinch or become eliminated. Kind of like what they did in 2009 and 2011. Darling hasn't proven himself to be good enough, just like Lack, Justin Peters, Khudobin, Murphy, Leighton, and whoever else I'm missing.
Amazing that all these years later, there is still not a competent backup for Ward. He has to be exhausted mentally and physically by this point.
Agree... if the Canes thrown in the towel, Darling will be given a (final?) audition. I get the feeling RF/BP won't play Darling until then, unless Ward is hurt or it's a back-to-back.
As of this morning, playoffstatus.com gives the Canes a 28% chance of making the playoffs... and that's in the red zone, meaning that the most likely scenarios require the Blue Jackets and Panthers to play badly. The Canes don't play the Blue Jackets again; the Canes and Panthers play in Florida on April 2.
Of the 16 remaining Canes games, 9 are on the road. Worse, there are 4 back-to-backs still to come... meaning 4 more outings for Darling. On the other hand, only 6 of the 16 are against teams that are top-three in their divisions.

I'm wondering if Darling plays on Thursday in Chicago.
A gesture from Peters?
Starting him in Minnesota might be more helpful for resting Ward, particularly considering the next game after Chicago is not until Monday night, but Peters is not above gestures...
I hope Ward gets both starts...
