I told my wife that Svech would be in the sin bin within a few shifts.
The Refs must have overheard and wanted to make me feel predictive. Ergo, that terrible call...

Good win in Philly, but the boys won't win Thursday night at MSG with that effort.

Nice comeback win on Long Island last night.

Hoping that's the spark needed to get on a roll

Winning is more fun than losing.

And... Also in NY:
Rangers were up 3-0 in the first and let the Red Wings come back to win in shootout.
Heartwarming.

Halak on PTO as Andersen has an unspecified but apparently non-trivial medical problem. I have no confidence that Raanta and Kotchetkov can carry the team. If Halak isn't the answer, they'll have to trade.

Rumor has it that Freddy may have a medical issue with his liver.

Jaroslav Halak in on a PTO.

Canes PR on twitter:

"Goaltender Jaroslav Halak is joining the Hurricanes as a free agent tryout. Frederik Andersen is dealing with a medical issue and undergoing evaluations. An update will be provided when available, but no further comment will be issued until that time."

RALEIGH, NC. - Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced the following update on goaltender Frederik Andersen:

“During recent medical testing, it was discovered that Frederik Andersen had a blood clotting issue that needed to be addressed. There is currently no timetable for his return, but we are confident that Freddie will be able to make a full recovery.”

I think Kotchetkov is a good goaltender and will continue to grow. Halak has playoff experience. We'll see.

The Canes haven't actually signed a contract for Halak to play. Not yet, at least. Who knows how Halak did in the tryout and whether he is in game shape. They get cap space by putting Andersen on IR. I can't imagine that Halak would be paid the same as Andersen, so if Andersen does not return this season, the Canes would get some wiggle room on the cap later this season.
