If she's under 25 y.o., it's just something cutsie but don't think it means that she's trying to tell you something. If she's over 25 y.o., I guess she's still thinking she's being cute putting that smiley. Again, don't read anything into it. It's not a signal that she's interested.
Whenever my partner sends me a 'shop talk' email, it is always followed by a knowing smiley. And I know what this means
There are exceptions to this rule. For instance, if you and the female are not married and have not had sex before then it will mean nothing at all. People attach smilies to emails all the time and would be horrifed if anyone took it to mean anything other than a smiley
Yes. It's office code for, "I want to walk into your cubicle, rip open my blouse and ride your baloney pony. Take me know." And if she uses the little icon, she's saying, "I'm not wearing any panties."
Okay. Now that we've dispensed with that bit of nonsense, I'd imagine that it means nothing at all, except for the fact that your co-worker has maturity issues.
sends a smiling icon along with an e mail? anything or do people do it all the time in the office?
It means nothing! I am definitely over 25 and I use it so people won't misinterpret stuff I say as being unfriendly. I don't think I'm cute or nothing. <--- that still means nothing.

I use emoticons b/c I think I'm being cute. A lot of times I say things and find myself really adorable. Maybe the other person doesn't get it... but who cares??!!! haha
