You might try two things I've seen responsible for this, if you haven't already -
1. Make sure the wiring for the door isn't shorting out - staples, nails etc. can cause intermittent shorts.
2. Re-set the code on your remote and "flush" the memory - instructions should be with your original paperwork (if you have it) or search online for the manufacturer.

I can honestly say I won't miss that, nor have I missed mowing either.
I love mowing. Leaves... Well they fall in an area that I can't mow. When I did have leaves to remove... I ran over them with a mulcher of the mower, than windrowed them so that cleanup was tongs easier and the leaves were ground down to manageable.

I would do the same as you which meant my typical "mowing" season could stretch into the following year depending on weather. In '09 I was really lucky due to stronger than usual winds & rain knocking all the leaves to the ground early; I was done by November.
Mowing to me meant more stuff to do, not just the mowing part, but the maintenance of the equipment also; it just got old.

I've had it happen to me in Florida they call it "ghosting"...I would call the people that installed it...between the two and four legged critters that could get in!!

The college boys across the street are getting nutty.... people partying and stuff... I see the cops coming tonight..... LOL.... we live in a good area and the police station is walking distance from our house... LOL....
I remember being in charge of letting people into our frat parties.... it was funny how all the hot chicks never seemed to have an issue getting in......
