In my experience sexual alpha males aren't that successful at life, they tend to settle into the trades and sales. On the other hand, the most successful men I've known also did not impress me as alpha males, they usually got there by being dedicated nerds going into a lucrative profession such as becoming a physician or engineer. Women who are young go for sexual alpha males, but when older they tend to want a more comfortable life with someone intelligent.

I really don't think it matters who is a sexual alpha male. That's something important to animals, we humans ought to strive for higher pursuits than rewarding good breeders.

Nerds can easily be alpha male types though. That's the thing, all it takes is confidence in what you're doing with your life.

If anyone watches Doctor Who, the doctor played by David Tennet is a perfect example of an alpha male who is kind of a geek, not a jerk but still an alpha male who everyone wants to be around.

Well burglar, that's why I wrote "sexual alpha males" - to distinguish them from other kinds of alpha males. The OP seemed preoccupied by the sexual type, and to me that's putting us on the level of animals.

What is more important: satisfying one thousand desires or conquering just one?
