The Great Porn Experiment: Gary Wilson at TEDxGlasgow - YouTube

A study was done to quantify the effects of internet porn on young men. It wasn't possible to find a control group because 100% of the men surveyed use internet porn - no one isn't using it!

When I told the ex that this is leading to a form of erectile dysfunction in young men due to desensitization, her response was one of utter disgust and she said that it serves them right... and they should go blind too. This wasn't a joke. It was genuinely hostile.

Is it any wonder I divorced the *****? While the bonanza of internet novelty is a problem, this is clearly a completely normal drive in men. Yet her response is to despise men for who and what we are.

The ex is a lost cause. But I wonder, are women finally outgrowing this naïve view of men - that our basic impulses are disgusting? It is my perception that younger women are generally more accepting of pornography. More and more women admit to using porn themselves. But I don't know if there have always been women who are comfortable with sexuality and would have always been okay with porn, or if the views of women are indeed generally changing across the board.

The fact is that before the internet was Playboy and Penthouse, and before that were adult books, and before that was the bra and panty section of the JC Penny's catalogue. The only thing that has really changed is the degree of access, and the range of novelty available.

So you just randomly started a conversation with your ex-wife about this? Why did you bombard her with that information if you didn't want to hear her response. I think it is odd you are shaming her for talking about not being compassionate about her basic impulses, but perhaps not at all getting that her impulse was to not want to hear about these sorts of things from you.

Sorry, but while I get That the Penney's catalog may have been erotic to some, you can't really compare it at all to even Playboy or anything in the internet

I'm sorry your man was so judgmental and unreasonable. FWIW, I can't even imagine doing such a thing.
Typical? I'm honestly not sure. I do know most of the women I've talked to about porn are fairly neutral about it but I have known a few that do consider it cheating (which is ridiculous) and I've also known a few where men have actually repeatedly turned down actual sex with their girlfriends/wives to watch porn. In fact, I've heard about the latter quite often.

Neither are the men, but that goes without saying.

My DH likes the "amateur" variety of porn better...I think what men can become desensitized to is the formulaic "classic porn star" stuff. JMO.
Your husband watches amateur porn because he's married. Previous porn industry was solely male-oriented to cater to their fantasy and concerns. Amateur porn is oriented towards guys who tend to emulate sex with their partner. Today's amateur porn is actually professionalized, but the camera angles and actors are deliberately chosen to "emulate real-life looks" (though they are still much better-than-average looks and much more skilled and willing, etc). It's very important to "look more realistic" and to "be more female friendly" if you intend to practice it with your wife - that's the whole deal.

I thought it was interesting. For a moment I forgot how narrow minded and irrational she is. We've been divorced for some time now. God knows that objectivity was too much to expect!

The point is that this is a basic drive that all men have, and have always had.

Are you the guy that is the sugar daddy to someone who is considerably younger than you, or do I have you mixed up with someone else?

When will these women learn that they aren't entitled to a man's body?

Maybe these women need to "woman up" and get in better shape, go to the gym, drop the rotten attitude, and learn be a better lover in the bedroom.

This post isn't directed at you JetJockey, I enjoy engaging in conversation with you. This is just how everyone responds when a man says he can't get a woman to have sex with him, so I'm throwing it back in everyone's face.

I was right. So now you are basically paying someone to behave just as you want them to...and not have independent thought. Since you are in that sort of situation where you don't have to hear anything you don't want to because you are paying, why are you jibber jabbering about your exwife.

That speaks to internet porn addiction and it is a problem, as is indicated in the lecture.

I can't see my sugar baby as often as I'd like so I use porn regularly. But I try to be careful not to overdo it. My sugar baby is a model and incredibly beautiful. She is also 22 years old. What more can a middle-age man ask for? But I still have to be careful to limit my porn usage in order to make the most of our dates. I need to use it enough so that I keep my stamina, but not so much that I become desensitized. I tend to watch the softer stuff with couples doing real and natural acts, and try to last as long as the guys do in the videos.

So for me it has become a practical tool, but one that definitely needs to be managed.

Where has anyone talked here about a man being entitled to a man's body?

I'm sorry, was there something about the question in the op that you can't understand? I thought it was pretty clear. Maybe you can quote the part that confuses you.
