The funny thing about my height is that while I am tall (6') I am not immune to having my "short" experience which usually comes after people drool about how tall I am

PEOPLE: WOW YOU ARE SO TALL!!!

Then a large group of people walk by who are almost a full head taller than me, men and women.

My reaction is usually

Of course height matters. My husband is 6"1 and I've never dated below 5"10. But at the same time, height is far from everything too! I know of a couple of short guy friends from school who do have trouble getting dates but they have eventually found someone.

Over 6' +25% advantage, over 5' 10 +10%, over 5' 8 - no advantage or disadvantage, 5' 7 or under 25% disadvantage, 5'6 or under : 30-40% disadvantage

That woukd be my take on it, so the guy who is shorter has to work that much harder and have other positive compensating factors to negate his disadvantage, being 6'1 you start out with a huge advantage so it's yours to lose that...

According to my girlfriend, the height has to be accompanied by athleticism or else it is a negative rather than a positive. When a guy is really tall, as in 6'7+, he has got to be exceptionally athletic looking to avoid looking like an oaf.

After that I asked her if she would still date me if I couldn't dunk a basketball or if I struck out in softball. She paused a long time before saying that she could learn to live with me being unable to throw it down but that striking out in softball, unless it was fast pitch, was a complete deal breaker.

Well 6'7 is exceptionally tall so it looks downright goofy if you don't fill out the frame

I think 5'11-6'4 is probably the ideal range for a man if such a thing exists. I'd rather have more height than less if it means being skinny, you have power over changing your weight but not your height

Being tall is not all it's cracked up to be. I'd rather be obese and short, because at least you can lose weight.

Eh...I think of 6' as average to me. I mean, I'm super tall and I don't even consider my guy tall and he's 6'3. Now, my friend who is 7'1? HE'S tall.

So, if you're 5'4, I'd probably think anyone over 5'9 or so would be 'tall', but if you're 6'3 then 5'10 would be kinda short, ya know?

6'3 is definitely tall, 6'0 is high average.

I'm not sure I buy that 86% statistic though, wish it were true

certain races may bring the overall numbers down
