Metaphysique, appearance wise I think it depends on different factors such as hair type, facial shape, etc. Some women look really nice with short hair. Some look really nice with long hair. Some are lucky enough to be able to do both well. Sounds like you fall into the latter category. Wife does not like hair too short as it becomes uncontrollable no matter what she does. Really it matters first to you, then to your husband. Are you both happy?

I had long hair from age 3. Now that Im older, Ive gone short. I can tell you as a matter of fact that short hair is much easier to maintain, although can require more trips to the stylist if you cant let it grow some before going to get it cut again. I sport a very short stacked bob, and with a good cut can let it grow to my shoulders.
I used to use a lot of styling product with my long hair, that I now dont use at all - not even hair spray. Part of this is due to a new Nano Titanium blow dryer that keeps my naturally wavy hair straight in humdity levels that would have left my hair looking like unkempt cotton candy with out those products.
I also started getting headaches from constantly keeping all that weight tied in a ponytail or bun all the time. You would be amazed how light fluffy it feels short.
I recently thought about letting it grow again, but once it got to my shoulders, I couldnt wait to go get it cut again. It suits my purposes as well as my profession.
To each his own though. Men will say they prefer long hair, and in their youth they probably do, but if they love you - they wouldnt care if you shaved your head bald.
I find it really odd that men have this fixation on a woman's hair while their own hair can be any way they want it. Brush cuts, bald, greasy long hair, or even a Mohawk is okay for them but the little lady has to have long luxurious locks untouched by scissors. Talk about a double standard.

Ummmm I'm pretty sure women have preferences on male cuts too.

Plus, they could be so focused on the short hair cut that, they could actually be missing out the ideal person for them. There is way more to a person than just their hair style.

But hair can DRASTICALLY change the way a person looks. That's the thing. That's why SO many people obsess about their hair. If you don't have the right face (a pretty feminine face, let's say you have a manly face as a woman), you can kiss being beautiful goodbye if you cut your hair short.
Metaphysique, your thumbnail was not visible to me.
