I honestly never thought of that angle. You should have put this out there 150 posts ago. Could have changed the course of the entire thread.

1.) Make her a part of it. We signed up together for MSF safety courses and got our licenses on the same day. She has not ridden on her own much since then (kids and all) but really enjoys the ride on the back. We have been places that you can never get to by plane and looks forward to every crazy trip I plan. This year we are seeing Finger Lakes region and later in the summer traveling to Northern Maine. If that doesn't appeal to her - let her explore the fashion side of the whole thing. A lot of women really do enjoy that part.

They use small 250 bikes in the training sessions which means the OP's wife can easily learn ride one no matter how small she is.

The classroom training alone will teach excellent safety precautions and cover all of the do's and don'ts of good motorcycle riding. They go over the proper gear to wear, proper maintenance of the bike, and all sorts of good information on top of safety while riding.

It might even be an opportunity for her to gain closure.

Sorry since I know most believe that the wife has the final say. I give balance and autonomy much credence.

I think it's great that you spoke with her. Get your bike. be responsible. Enjoy the ride!
His, not theirs?

It depends. Maybe they have a joint account, and an account just for him?

Or maybe he had money saved up from before they got married, what we call a pre-marital asset.

This might work in a more typical case. However, with her brother killed in a motorcycle accident she would probably consider it disprespectful to him if she got on a bike...and I can hear the mother/MIL now! "Another one of my children....."

Even better to get your lady on her own bike.
