A perfect 10 with a cigarette in her mouth, drops down to about a 6.
Now, if that could be communicated well to kids about the age of 10, the number of smokers would plummet to under 5% in the next 2 decades. It would soon become something that - "yuck" - old people do!
Things have improved. A few decades back, it was the nice guy, responsible types who didn't smoke and they didn't fare well in the relationship game. If they had, smoking would be almost extinct today. I think the addiction to cigarettes motivated many young men to quit school ASAP and get a job. Prior to the great economic meltdown of the mid 70s, this made them prime marriage material.
However, by the mid 1980s, smoking was rapidly losing its acceptance and today, I cannot imagine how a smoker manages to continue their habit, especially in places where the winters are cold or the summers are sweltering. Standing outside, even with a cell phone to keep you company, cannot be fun in those conditions.
Yep, and I just LOVE it when men with beer breath and a big ole beer gut to match come at me. NOT! Shall we all devote threads to the habits/lifestyles that are a huge turnoff? I'll start off -- about fat people.
OMG, I was at the salon getting my hair cut today and, of the 15 or so men and women in the place, only three weren't fat -- myself and two others. THAT deserves a huge thread.
Now, I'm a smoker who respects other people's preferences and I won't even smoke in my own house when I have guests, plus I make sure the house doesn't reak of smoke. I'm working on quitting but crappy comments and attitudes like those exhibited here don't help. Most of y'all don't realize just how difficult it is to quit smoking -- it's been compared to a heroin-like addiction in its fierceness.
Which, of course, is a far cry from those who haven't meant a Twinkie they wouldn't scarf down! (ooops, was that Freudian?!)
I have to wonder if anyone actually likes a smoker. There are those who don't like it (non-smokers) and those who tolerate it or don't mind it (smokers and some non/smokers). But does anyone actually LIKE being with/around someone who smokes?
