The best places around here to run highspeed open road are hwy 408 south out of Irving toward I-20 west to 287 south to 67 north back to 20. 40 mile or so total distance you can average 130 or so depending on time of day. top speed runs I get to 170-180 but there are a couple places where you have to slow down to transition hwys.

What are you driving on the street?

FYI my G37 is putting 502hp to the street. Weighs roughly 3500lbs. The ECU has been flashed to run my twin turbos and high-flo exhaust, oh and to pull the governor off the programing.

Birthday present to myself. I was going to wait a while before I moded this one but since the wife is going to take half in the divorce I might as well spend as much as I can now.

Great thread!

It made me realize, that I too, am a car bigot.

I admire and adore men who are car-free and use bicycles as their main form of transportation.

Being practical, however, sometimes one needs an engine . I like Subarus, old Volvo wagons and little Toyota PU trucks. I am also a manual transmission gal.

But, what do we own? The dreaded Dodge Caravan (automatic). It is fuglllllyyyyy. We bought it to haul our tandem bicycle. In our defense it pretty much only leaves the garage for long road trips or big grocery-store runs.

I guess what our car says about us; "We love bicycles. Cars, meh, not so much."

What about guys who drive cars that are going *up* in value, MG-Bs, E30 M3's etc?

What about bikes?

What about guys who have multiple cars? - does this imply Multiple personalities?

Hahahaha Right. Great point I never mentioned my bike. American Iron Horse Tejas. These bikes are no longer being made and have gone up in value since I bought it.

My brother must have multiple, multiple personalities because he has 28 cars! All of them 60's and 70's American muscle - except for his daily driver.

We're in California. Yes, he takes them out. He's even been in some of the car mags. We both go out to California Speedway and race. I have a 1970 Torino that I take out there and he has 4 Torinos and he races our late brother's Pinto. Not your average Pinto - this Pinto runs in the 7's.

There are some forums he's on that I think he's posted some pics. I'll see if I can find them and provide a link.

LOL
Wonder how many women passed on Bill Gate and his fabled Ford Taurus.

Ohhhh the car collector post reminded me of a dating story.

I once dated a guy I met through bike racing (imagine that....). He drove a small, but unspectacular econo-box.

We met after work for drinks, then drove to his house to feed his dog. He opens the garage door and asks me "which car should we take to dinner?"

He collected Porsches.

I picked one that matched my outfit.

So, yeah, you really can't tell much about a guy based on the car happens to be driving at any particular moment.

My husband drove a Taurus station wagon. Could we aford something flashy and expensive? Hell yes, but the last thing he cares about is a car. It's just not his thing. Now, me ... on the other hand ... I'm a different story. I'm a car girl. I can't help it though - I grew up in a family of car nuts and drag racers.
