Anything more than a handful's a waste?

Oh..wait..

I think short hair looks cute, long hair is associated with youthfulness and fertility. It really just depends on what looks good on you. I know I look awful with short hair, so I keep mine long.

!

Perhaps, but a small, delicate-featured face can be sort of overshadowed or swallowed up by long hair, especially if the hair is very thick/ bulky.
I allowed that some women look better with long hair.
Not all do.
On some women, long hair serves no purpose other than to hide their prettiness, drag their features down, make them look drab, worn, and tired.
Petite women tend not to be able to carry off long, thick, heavy hair very well. Just like they don't look great in long, flowy skirts or big, chunky jewelry.
These things make them look kind of swallowed-up, like they're playing dress-up in mom's clothes.
Think "Olsen Twins".
What I wouldn't give to chop those scraggly-azz rat's nests off their heads and dress them in some clothes that actually flatter them.

I actually ask for the long layers on account I can do longer hair but because it's fine it still needs help and long layers give it a bit more body.

I'm thinking I won't be able to let it get much longer though, it just wouldn't suit me AND I really don't have the kind of hair or the face shape to pull off really long, straight, all-one-length hair.

Nice work if you're cutting yours yourself though! I've been known to succumb to trimming my fringe myself but generally don't touch the length. For me that's just asking for trouble.

Trust me; I look smokin' with short hair, and kind of knackered with long hair.
Contrary to popular opinion, long hair is a lot easier to maintain, at least for me: brush, ponytail, go.
Short hair requires a little more attention.
Unfortunately, my hair grows absurdly fast; I get it cut to the back of my neck about three times a year, then let it grow out until it's past my shoulders and I just can't stand it anymore, then get it cut again.
I always have to reassure the stylist that it's okay, she's not going to make it "too short", and if she does it doesn't matter anyway, since it'll be grown out again in a month.

Isn't it human instinct to want to look nice for the opposite sex?
What has short hair got to do with looking nice?

I prefer long hair on a man, but its not a big deal if he prefers a military cut or if he is bald.

Funny, my short hair requires very little care. In fact, if I get a buzz cut, I don't even have to comb it.

Long hair can be just as easy, I just wash it and throw it in a pony tail.

Done.

Easy on the scissors! They can get addictive! As we all know, Van Gogh wasn't in very good mental health...
