Suffering implies danger, impending loss of life or limb.
An omnipotent being, on the other hand, cannot die nor be harmed. An omnipotent deity has nothing to lose. Therefore, a god cannot suffer.
I am a mother. I have 5 children. When my child suffers, I suffer. This does not require me to lose my life or a limb. My pain/suffering is greater than any pain you can imagine or I can put into words. Unless, of course, you are also a parent who has had to watch their child suffer. Are you a parent?
God, my heavenly Father, omnipotent, He suffers when His children suffer.

Did god suffer when he decided to flood the earth and kill every living creature upon its surface and under its polluted water?
Did he suffer when he destroyed soddom and Gomorrah?
Did he suffer when he snuffed out the lives of the first born of egypt?
OK, I'm going out on a limb here. I never was one to raise my hand in class and I am far from being a biblical scholar, but aren't these events OT? My thought would be that God did not 'enjoy' what happened. Just as a parent does not enjoy disciplining their child, but there are some actions that can just not go on without reprecussion. My point to it being OT is that God had not become man yet. Jesus had not walked the earth. He had not fully experienced being man.
Thank you. I'll go to the back of the glass again.
