It's all very relative really- Switzerland is a conservative country, both fiscally and socially, yet they have a huge Federal social safety net for their citizens.

That is a great point Saltatrix...I don't know what shape Switzerland is in, as to finances, but maybe they can afford to have huge social nets for their citizens.

In America our system was designed to have two parties pulling back and forth, checks and balances, in Rhode Island one party has dominated for over 60 years. No matter the reason... The deck is now stacked... The Union "Gorilla" sucks all the air in the room, it's RI domination is known through out the entire Nation. Who is behind this Union Machine would surprise us.

This is the reason RI as a state, is extremely expensive to own property in and do business in. One party has pulled, and pulled, and pulled, to one side to the point of near collapse, it's simply not in balance any longer, there is no give and take. That is why RI is alway first in and last out of all Recessions.
CNBC has given opinion on the states and there condition, some attack the messenger, lets say CNBC is not perfectly correct, we must agree we are always near the bottom of all of these polls.

Oh...and before the sarcasm begins, if it were the "Republicans" in charge for 60 years, we would be in a similar condition... No balance.

Now...I just don't see why every time someone shares there opinion on this forum they should be attacked by "certain people" in a sarcastic way, an all knowing, cutting way, sort of the like the "word bully" they attack as though they themselves are the subject of all debate. I don't know about you, but I HATE a bully. I enjoy taunting the bully.
