No, not those...

It doesn't happen every year, but when there is a dry autumn or late summer, the oaks that are over the little house on my land drop acorns on the metal roof all day and into the night, creating a clatter. I can't imagine having to live in that house and trying to sleep.

OTOH, it keeps me aware enough to hear the coyotes doing their thing, and I'm waiting for an owl to make an entrance in the soundscape. Beats police sirens and traffic noise any day of the week.

What noises do you enjoy?

That title...

My favorite sound is someone saying, "Here, take my money."

Aww ok, and a rushing stream filled with unicorn trout.

Love hearing the rain hit the steel roof of the cabin.
There's a small creek you hear most of the time, but rain on the roof luls me to sleep faster than anything.

One other sound I really love takes place in September when the elk rut and the bulls bugle most of the night. Nothing like the sound of a big bull singing to you on a frosty morning while you have your coffee.

I love the sound of dribbling balls.

I live near a basketball court.

I once visited a person who lived by tennis courts. It was painful. THWACK! grunt, bounce. THWACK! grunt, bounce. THWACK! grunt, bounce. THWACK! grunt, bounce. THWACK! grunt, "Shi*!"

Wind in the fall trees and rain here.

Ahhh, yes, the acorns hitting the tin roof.
Rain hitting the tin roof.
A storm in the distance.
Leaves rustling in the trees.
Crickets chirping.
And sometimes just the sound of silence.

how about walnuts hitting a tin roof?

the story is: while fly-fishing i heard what sounded like a sub-machine gun.
BAM BAM BAM x 10 really fast. then it stopped. then it began again.
only after wading downstream did i see the old barn with a nearby
walnut tree. since it was in early October, the nuts were dropping
with every gust of wind. it was a beautiful day to fish and i am
reminded of it when an acorn or any nut drops on any metal surface.
