We sometimes go to the tennis courts at Taft H.S.

Regarding the accident; that explains why we lost power around that time and why we heard sirens. We also saw several sherriff's patrol cars around Alamo Ranch. Maybe they were looking for another car that was racing.

I think I saw them warming up near our development last night. I was standing out front with my jaw hanging open at the amount of speed they were pushing up and down those streets. I thought *that* was the race.
And the joys of power outtage....
Terrible.Just terrible.

Im just wondering what type of charges can be brought up on the other racer? I am sure there were witnesses, being that close to the Valero as well. Just so sad I cringed when i saw the footage on the news at 6

The driver, 22-year-old ____________, was taken to University Hospital immediately following the wreck. He was charged Sunday afternoon with racing on highway resulting in death and remained jailed on a $20,000 bond, officials said.

That's from the newspaper report.

Not that it has anything to do with this accident, but just today on the way home from the NE side, just beyond Bandara and before the Babcock exit on 1604 there was a TERRIBLE accident headed north...the silver car was on its side, had obviously rolled and the entire roof area was crushed in...traffic was backed up for quite a ways, and while I have no idea how this accident occurred (it appeared to be the one car only) it is obvious that speed was involved...this car was totally mangled. I pray that the individuals inside are safe, but really don't see how they got thru this without serious injuries if they did.

I thought about how easy it is to go faster than we should...being late starting out for somewhere we need to be, trying to pass someone we feel is going to slow, all kinds of excuses. It is so apparent that should something happen when we are traveling at such speeds, it makes the accident so much more dangerous. It was a wakeup call for me, and with hearing that a friends family member has died in this accident because someone else was speeding, it reenforces my need not to get comfortable with speed, because things can go from fine to horribly wrong in an instant.
