They all deserve some credit. It's definitely a team effort.

I agree.

I do think Bratton deserves a bigger share of the credit in Los Angeles, where he took the lead role, and then rattled off 6 years straight of declining crime. That's why Oakland brought him in.

I hope Bratton could make a good impact in Oakland.

If his experience from Los Angeles serves him well, he probably will. Oakland is getting a lot of LAPD experience applied to their situation.

Yes, NYC is the model that LA copied, so.

Doesn't really matter much. I just hope Bratton does a good job in Oakland, really.

Unfortunately, some of the people in this thread actually wish for the opposite to occur..twisted.

Not all that surprising.

What I wonder about is this:

Quote:
He said that Oakland had a higher number of 911 calls than any other U.S. city and called for using a geographic policing model that could “free up 30 percent of police time.”
Maybe that will also work out for the better along with the lower than last year murder rate.

Geographic District Policing

Honestly I'm surprised they didn't do that already. I thought that was "community policing" and done pretty much already by most police forces.

Community policing has been done in Oakland for decades. That's just lip service.

Why don't you find it surprising that Oakland leads the nation in 911 calls?
