I would not mind seeing more retail options in Sumter such as a Publix supermarket.

I actually heard that was coming, don't know if that's true or not. But, I have heard several people talking about it.

Sumter should be a city on Publix's radar.

I hope so I think we're the only major city in SC that doesn't have at least one location

Even Greenwood got one along with Ross, Petsmart, and Kohl's but not Sumter

Last I heard, Publix had dropped Sumter. They first tried to buy the corner of wise and Alice where Brabham, a day care and the batting cages. That fell through. Then they wanted the IGA on All cae and Wesmark. That fell through. Last they looked at Wise and Loring Mill but Piggly Wiggly local owner owns that corner and won't sell to another grocery chain.

I wish Sumter had a Hooters, and being a military town, seem like that would be an easy one. And I'm not saying that for the Hooters waitress, the food is actually pretty good. Every one I ever been to had really good food, and being prior military myself, I been to many all around the country. Seem like that would be a perfect fit on Broad street near Wild Wings.

Sumter is in a similar position as Camden, Conway, Florence, Hartsville, Lancaster, Orangeburg, Seneca, and Walterboro as secondary cities without Publix.

I hope that is speculation. I can see potential locations not going through.
