Europe has fared no better, and they went the hard lock down route. Sure, not every country is identical, and you can cherry pick data to find the ones with slightly better outcomes. But that's politics, not reality.
Did you see the population adjusted deaths I listed below?
The countries below did not just lock down they did aggressive contact tracing and that allowed them to begin to reopen
Europe has fared better after initial outbreaks they were able to decrease cases a death for many months.
The USA has never been able to bring cases down to Europe’s level

South Korea 443 deaths / population 51.3 million **** adjusted to USA population 2,866 deaths

Australia 904 deaths/ pop 24.9 million **** adjusted to USA population 11,980 deaths

Japan 1664 deaths /pop 125.9 million **** adjusted to USA population 4392 deaths

It not a matter of if South Dakota will lock down it is a matter of how soon hospitals are overwhelmed and how many deaths a day before the officialS make the move

No matter how many times you cherry pick data, that doesn't make your point any more valid. Let me demonstrate:

Peru: 1072 deaths / million
Belgium: 978 deaths / million
Spain: 762 deaths / million
USA: 715 deaths / million

Let's look at some states:

New Jersey: 1853 deaths / million
New York: 1729 deaths / million
Massachusetts: 1432 deaths / million
Connecticut: 1293 deaths / million

From the above cherry picked data, I conclude the USA is doing pretty well compared to other countries, and the only reason we aren't doing a whole lot better is a handful of states that went the hard lock down route.

Do you think that's a valid analysis? If every time you post something I reply with a copy / paste of the above completely true cherry picked data, does that change the validity of that analysis?

And now you're saying all 50 Governors are incompetent. Most of them started out the hard lock down route, and they've given up on it. I guess in your eyes they were brilliant back in March, but now, not so much. Do you wonder why they haven't locked down again, even when cases are much higher than they were back in March / April when they locked down? Have they decided the lock downs didn't solve the problem and they need to do something different, something a little finer grained than "shut everything down," or do you think they're all just incompetent?

You did cherry pick countries. Let’s complete the list of 10 worst countries with deaths per millions
1)San Marino
2)Peru
3)Belgium
4)Andorra
5)Spain
6)Brazil
7)Bolivia
8) Chile
9) Ecuador
10)USA
Look at the countries on this list. We are the fricking USA !!!
One of the wealthiest countries on the planet with Wall Street and Silicon Valley
Some of the best medical schools in the world Harvard, John Hopkins ,Stanford , UCSF ,Columbia, Duke,u of Chicago
Best technical schools on the planet MIT, cal tech, Harvard, u of Washington, carnigie Mellon, u of Illinois, Michigan,Berkeley
(Look at the Nobel prizes American universities have Compared to the other countries on this list)
The best intelligence agencies CIA,nsc, nsa, mic
Government health and regulatory organizations like the CDC and fda.

you really think with all these recourses we should be ranked with Peru ,Belgium, Spain ,Bolivia and Ecuador? No way. the trump administration epically failed.

I think governors who ignore the science and experts and wait until deaths are spiraling out of control and hospitals are overwhelmed to begin covid mitigation Actions are incompetent.

So do you go to every state section on this forum and complain with your obvious political agenda or are we the only lucky ones?

This isn’t about politics it’s about science and saving lives.
The editorial board of the New England journal of medicine (the most respected medical journal on the planet ) condemned the trump administration response
Science and Nature magazine editorial boards have also condemned the administration’s response.

There is growing national interest in South Dakota covid response

Deaths went from 1 to 2 a day to 19
Daily infection results have gone from around 50 a day to 1270
And the governor is endorsing concerts and rallies

We know what happens when this virus is allowed to spread unchecked. We saw that in Texas and Florida.
If coming on this state forum and sharing the science and facts related to covid may change behaviors and save lives well... your welcome

Your posts seem pretty political to me.

Sadly with this there doesn't seem to be a correct cover all answer. What has worked one place doesn't seem to work in others. All I can do is wish everyone a great day and hope they stay healthy. I see no good in coming on a internet forum and talking trash about this subject. At this point unless you are a complete loner who never leaves their house you know people in real life that have died from it.

South Dakota new cases are up to 1599 a day.

“What has worked one place doesn't seem to work in others”
What actions is South Dakota taking that has worked to decrease cases , hospitalization and deaths that has worked at decreasing, hospitalization and deaths in other places? Where are these places that succeeded using the same method as South Dakota?

It’s not talking trash to point out when people are making erroneous comments about such a serious and deadly subject.

See what I did there?

The socialists pay trolls to insert agitation. They inevitably get some disaffected people to start carrying on for free. Don't you just hate that suddenly President Trump is supposed to be Dr. Trump and if only he'd done x we'd all be living merrily? You can see it in campaigns around the world. The reds are back and they've spread right on the backs of this illness.

The reality is, there has been correlations starting to be found in the severity of the illness and the expected robustness of one's immune system. For example, cases in India are spiraling, but the severity is seemingly less. Even in Brazil, which really did nothing, we see cases trending down. There's no cure yet, but one is being developed. Treatments for the affected are already being put into place as doctors get better at treating symptoms.

It's an illness. Your best move is to be careful. Wash your hands, wear a mask as a courtesy (not law) when going out to interact with others and periodically wipe down areas where people will touch.

Stay true South Dakota. By God, you may be saving the country by example. I've never fielded so many inquiries of interest about the area locally. For the decent, I'll talk. For the obvious, I tell terrors of -50 windchills and the feeling of abandonment because no government exists, just lawless marauders living off the land, packs of wolves. However, for a nice vacation, nothing beats Rosebud in January.

If you’re brave enough to let your kids trick or treat today be advised. If they show up wearing a non costume mask they will in return get a disposable face mask. If they don’t they will get candy. That is all.
