That is a coastal area, isn't it?

Still haven't had rain in Treasure Island. It came close yesterday. It literally looked like the rain was a 100 yards away, but not a drop.

You won't have to worry about it for a long while. Upper levels are heating up and that means much less rain. Some lucky peeps will get some rain well inland thurs.

Make it 6 times now. Yet again, we are going in the opposite direction. Incredibly dry air for this time of year is moving in. It's funny how many times I have heard "This is it. 7 months of heat and humidity."

Like I said, I will believe it when I see it......and I ain't seein' it consistently yet. Just a bunch of false starts.

While I am sure people who do not like higher dew points will be happy, these extremely abnormal conditions this time of year are not going to provide the conditions we need in this area, in order to replenish our water supplies via thunderstorms.

The storms are sporadic at best until mid June anyway. The Gulf temps need to be up there to help the daily rain kick in for the coastal areas and that takes a while.

I'm wishing for rain as well, my grass isn't looking great and I'm tired of watering it, and we've completely missed out on the last couple rounds of storms.

To whomever wrote this in my feedback section, instead of in this thread:

We Need HEAT & HIGHER... 05-24-2013 04:25 PM these conditions are NOT extremely abnormal - this is the DRY SEASON

Yes, this is completely abnormal at this time of year. Having dew points down into the 50's over this weekend is way way off from normals. Steve Jerve agrees!

Ok......

In Florida (a peninsula) you are never that far (compared to other places) from the coast.

In Pinellas County (a peninsula on a bigger peninsula) you are never that far (again..compared to other places) from the coast.

Because of that....areas that are RIGHT ON THE COAST are considered "coastal" here.........

So, MOST OF PALM HARBOR is not really "coastal" by Florida standards....maybe somewhere else- but not here......

"West of U.S.19 in Palm Harbor" is not really "coastal".............west of Alt 19 (right on the coast) is considered coastal.....

Barrier islands: YES

Areas less than 1 mile from the Intracoastal Waterway: YES

Areas greater than 1 mile from the Intracoastal Waterway eastward all the way to Tampa Bay: NO

In Florida (and especially Pinellas) "coastal" means: within a mile or so from the coast.
