Great news. There needs to be more places in the county that serves craft beers.

You beat me to the punch...if I wasn't in a meeting lol......definitely a great add and will go a long way in establishing the community side of things. One less thing to go out of the immediate area for. Now we need to lobby for a trader joe's/whole foods and an upscale dine in movie theater. Peterson has already struck a deal for one in Loudoun. It would be great if they could do the same at or near the Harbor

Yeah I think that will see more of this in and around the harbor as the MGM and the other adjacent project come online.

Here is a link to some of their previous projects

It's great for the National Harbor but I look at it from a different angle. I look out for the little man in all of this.

This is another trap to keep DMV nightlife centralized, which is so unfortunate for local artists- considering what MGM has done for Vegas to cultivate other local/world stars. Most local artists up and and down the east coast aren't going to dream of performing at the MGM National Harbor. But everyone dreams to play in Vegas. Even the comedy shows and other forms of entertainment will only a be a check in the box for most entertainers.

The problem with the area's entertainment is that it doesn't merge with bordering states beyond the immediate area. Therefore, these bars/lounges won't allow for the cross range of energies that you get between baltimore, philly, NY, and Nj- or Californians/Texans that travel to Vegas. Even Miami/NY/Atlanta share energies. This in-turn limits exposure for local/outside artists such as the "mixologists" that seek to network and feed off each other. What you get is stale local talent that will always stay local.....

Vegas on the Potomac: New Cocktail Bars Coming to National Harbor: DCist

Ultimately, the success of these venues lies in the way they seamlessly blend with the environment of the casino but still attract guests who are accustomed to the cocktail scene in the city. For Masi, that means relying on local talent to get the cocktails right. “The most important thing is finding the local great mixologists to work there: those who will work together and work off one another to create a memorable menu. [The program] has to be organic. It’s important that the ideas come from the talent,” he says.

I know how they can reach 40%. There's a video within this article that talks about Maryland and specifically Prince George's County being a great place to live for those relocating to work at MGM National Harbor.

Even those these applicants don't currently live in Prince George's County, once MGM opens, if they are hired, they would have been encouraged to move to PG County. Thus helping to fulfill the 40% quota. Relocating from Atlantic City to Maryland is not that far. You're still relatively close to family and friends.

It's not clear whether of not MGM will provide relocation services.

I thought about that as well. Although its difficult to predict where people may decide to live. Prince George's is the most viable option economically. Especially if schools is not a deciding factor.

Quick updates:

Casino:
Dec 1 & 5 will be special events hosted by MGM; no word on the invitees.Official opening is the evening of December 8th / morning of December 9th, at midnight.

Roadwork will be happening at the harbor to widen lanes and improve the traffic flow. Middle of September to first of October 2016 will be the start of construction. Within the first 90 days of the casino opening in December, Peterson and the County will be monitoring + trying to adjust traffic flow patterns. The main goal will be to push casino traffic to enter from Oxon Hill Road.

New Apartment Building:
"The Haven" is the name of the new apartment building being built on National Harbor Way/St. George Street. They are constructing a new street as well as an access point for this building. The building will house 260 units. Clark Co. was awarded the contract...managed by Buzzuto. Building construction starts in the 2017 fiscal year.

Thanks for the updates. Was this in an article? If so can you provide a link. Also any info on when the development that will be adjacent to MGM will begin?

Good to see that they are already publicizing the opening. They have a lot to do in three months.
