I've never actually been to Alberta, only on layovers in Calgary and Edmonton while going to Yellowknife. It's a pretty decent place climate-wise (a very broad statement, I know); would be nice to travel in the mountains some day.
And a reminder...this thread isn't just about rare or extreme events, it's to show the snow and cold in Western-Central U.S & Canada. I just didn't think I'd be here again at the end of June.
Video from Reed in Colorado.. Very Cold Upper Low for this time of year. These ULL's have been in the West a lot more past 12 months. No sustained ridging anymore.

Ah, I was thinking of Jasper, not Banff. I've been both places though, drove through Banff driving from Calgary to Vancouver
As much as I would hate to say this, I should probably go ahead and say it anyway, but here I go, as I have said before a cooler planet likely is more detrimental to mankind than a warmer world would be.
Cold and wet sucks way more than warm and dry. Even during a drought crops can be raised (irrigation), but a cold wet climate makes it almost impossible to grow food.
