Here's one of the very few areas in which (based on past postings) I safely think Warszawa & I can agree: jettisoning Columbus Day in favor of Indigenous Peoples' Day.

I would love for that to happen, Columbus Day is stupid. Maybe they could also educate people about the local indigenous groups

Why, just why. I can't think of any other country in the world where people are actually moving away from the wealthiest regions to the poorest.
Everyone in New England isn't rich, it's possible to achieve a better quality of life elsewhere. People aren't leaving in droves for a better climate alone.

The US has inequality comparable to Latin America, but the average income is much higher. I'd rather have below average income in the US than above average income in South America

But there are a lot of different benefits of living there. You can walk anywhere you want, beautiful nature, slower pace of life, etc
