I once spent a week in Orlando. In late February, when it's supposed to be the "best". Around 77 F, toxic levels of humidity, constant stickiness. When it rained, I was soaking wet before the first drop fell.
Mowing the yard ? Yeah, right

Gimme blizzards, gimme -40 F any day of the week, gimme locusts, just not this ...

I never understood the "snowbird" masochism. Why submit yourself to such misery ?!?

What's the difference if you have to stay inside where the A/C is blasting 24/7 at deafening acoustic levels ? At least, in winter, heating is quiet. I doubt it's cheaper to run three 1.5 kW A/Cs than electric heating (not in my case, for sure), so even that argument is off the table. Not to mention how miserable it is for a Siberian Husky...

Back on topic, last night when I was out on a walk, it was -32C windchill. A bit on the stronger side, the type of wind when it takes some effort to walk straight and not trip over, fresh snow constantly blowing in your face (like an acupuncture ), but sooo much preferable to the scenario above ...

^^^^^^^^

You don’t remember March 2012???here in Indianapolis temperatures were above 80 degrees for a week straight and people were mowing their lawns before the end of March when such an occurrence usually isn’t seen until the second half of April. March 2012 was the hottest ever for Indianapolis since records began in 1871. Many trees and shrubs were budding and blooming weeks ahead of schedule here. I’m surprised you DON’T remember the spring of 2012 as it was truly anomalously warm for much of the Eastern two thirds of the lower forty eight states..

Our winters have seen more and more super hot and humid days the last 8 years. What people don't understand is living right on the gulf is worse than living inland when it comes to dew points and humid weather. It was 21f on this date back in 1985 when we had real winters in Tampa.

I would guess 37f if that. The wind is up and any wind off the water keeps the temps up. Rather this be 1985 when it was 21f on this date.

20's well north of Tampa. My guess Tampa will see around 36f and south St pete around 40f and some lower 30's inland in the colder pockets

The lowest temperatures recorded in January 2020 so far;

Göle: -29°C

Ardahan: -18.9°C

İzmit: +2.1°C (where I live)

Too many official weather stations recorded temps below -20°C in Eastern Turkey but provincial capital of Ardahan couldn't do that sadly.

47F and the wind is puffing. No frost if the wind stays up.

Cold enough for snow.
